Apple Picking in the Hood || SoMich Grad in Avalon Village

Fellowman Diamond Greer gets interviewed by WDIV Channel 4 News during the Apple Picking in the Hood event at Avalon Village in Highland Park, Michigan.

October 20, 2022, SoMich Grad helped to kick off Halloween Weekend in Avalon Village, a once completely blighted four-block area of Highland Park being reinvigorated into a sustainable and beautiful eco- village that will be a safe place for children to play and study. Working with Mama Shu, the community organizer who founded the organization and had the vision for the neighborhood, the chapter volunteered at the event that had many activities for the children in the neighborhood.

Some of these included hayrides, face painting, storytelling, music and games. Aside from time assisting at the event, the chapter also donated $215.00 to the event.

Avalon Village is a beautiful jewel in what can be considered a rough part of town and the chapter had a blast in helping a worthy organization do so much good for the kids in that community.
